JEFF BROOKS

My name is Jeff Brooks. I'm a writer, editor, and gamer.

 

I graduated from Seton Hill with my MFA in creative writing back in 2014. Too often, I get bogged down by life in general, but writing is a part of me. I journal every day, and on good days, I’m working on a story. When novel writing is a little too combative, I enjoy writing mini-reviews of video games I’m playing for my friends. 

 

In addition to writing, I have developed a passion for editing. I started my professional editing path as an acquisitions editor in 2015. Since then, I have worked as a freelance editor for a variety of clients over the years—initially, focusing on fiction but eventually transitioning to articles. I have a great appreciation for the written word and find the process of sharpening someone’s writing so it has a stronger impact or a clearer message to be so satisfying. 

 

I’m passionate about video games and other popular media. I enjoy keeping up to date with gaming podcasts like Kinda Funny, and I regularly browse an assortment of gaming, movie, and television-related subreddits. I seek out content that values positivity and kindness, and strive to bring those same values to any discourse I participate in. I enjoy watching the latest Star Wars/MCU shows, playing tabletop games with friends, and spending probably far too much time playing video games. Luckily, my loving wife, Mandy, and our two cats all seem to tolerate my obsessive writing and gaming habits.
